Popsicles are getting eaten….and dropped on your carpet! How do you get those obnoxious popsicle stains out of your carpet? The good news is that you can use common household materials to get rid of popsicle stains. Searching the Internet gives parents all sorts of options for do it yourself ideas for how to remove stains from your carpet. We narrowed down some of our favorite options that are reported to do well with popsicle stains. Hopefully you will be able to find the required items for one of these stain cleaning methods and get those stains out of your carpet right away.
How to Get Popsicle Stain Out of Carpet
If the popsicle stain is still wet run to your kitchen and grab your cornstarch. Cornstarch is great at soaking up a variety of stains. Sprinkle the cornstarch generously onto the stain. Let it soak in for 15-20 minutes. Then simply vacuum it up and your carpet should be stain free! Another option is to fill a spray bottle with equal parts hydrogen peroxide and water and shake it well. Do not feel your spray bottle up all the way as the mixture may fizz up a little bit. Spray the stain with your mixture. Don’t soak your carpet completely, just make your carpet is damp. Depending on the size of your stain, let the mixture sit on the carpet for 15-30 minutes. Spray some additional water onto the stain. Then use a carpet brush to massage the fibers of your carpet. You will notice the stain becoming lighter at this point. Last, use a damp sponge to scrub the remaining stain out of the carpet. If the stain is larger, you will need to make sure that you rinse out your sponge a few times during the process.
How Do You Remove Chocolate Fudgsicle Stains from Carpet
If you have a chocolate fudgsicle stain on your carpet you may want to try this method for removing your stain. Mix one tablespoon of liquid hand dishwashing detergent with two cups of warm water. Sponge the stain with this mixture using a clean white cloth. Keep blotting with your cloth until the liquid is absorbed. If needed add more of the detergent solution and keep blotting. If the stain is still not coming up still make a mixture with one tablespoon of ammonia and two cups of warm water. Blot the stain as described above until the liquid is absorbed. Once the liquid is absorbed, use a clean sponge with cold water to blot out the spot dry.
How Do You Get Old, Dried Popsicle Stains Out of Carpet?
In our dream parenting world our children would come and tell us immediately that they dropped their tasty popsicle onto our carpet. In reality we find it hours or days later all dry and stuck into our carpet. If this happens to you there are some options for you! Get out glass cleaner, your iron, and a towel. First turn your iron on and turn it on your cotton setting. Spray your stained spot of carpet with glass cleaner and let it sit for a few minutes. Next lay your towel on top of the glass cleaner and iron over the spot and steam it. The more steam you use the faster the stain comes up! Next dab the towel over the hot, newly steamed carpet. Be careful not to scrub so you don’t loosen the threads of your carpet. You may have to repeat these steps 5-10 times before the stain is all the way out of the carpet. Don’t give up! Be persistent and your stain will come right out.
