How to Remove Dog Urine Stains & Smells from Carpet in Sunnyvale, TX; Spot Cleaning, Hiring Carpet Cleaners & More

As much as we love our furry family members, they can be hard on our carpet. This can especially be true when you have a puppy that you are in the middle of training. When you have a pet, you have to know that accidents are bound to happen no matter how vigilant you are in taking good care of your animal. When you have pet urine that makes its way to your carpet, it is important that you clean it up properly to avoid that animal having repeated accidents in the same spot. Heart of Texas Chem-Dry is here to share some tips in removing pet urine from your carpet.

How to Get Old Dog Urine Out of Carpet

Hopefully, you have been able to find the accident right after it has happened. This will be your best bet in completely removing it from your carpet. It is important you act as quickly as possible to remove any pet urine from your carpet for best results. When you do find that an accident has happened, here is what you need to do to remove it.
– The first thing you need to do is to grab a clean, white washcloth and start soaking up the stain as much as possible. This may require that you use more than one washcloth to get the job done. You can even set something heavy on the washcloth to apply more pressure to the spot and soak up more urine.
– After you have removed as much of the stain as possible, you will want to use a safe carpet cleaner that will deodorize and remove any remaining urine. Let that sit for 3-5 minutes and then, using a wet washcloth, blot up the cleaner and rinse out the carpet. You need to remember to remove any cleaner from the carpet or the residue will attract dirt and other debris to that spot.
– Once you have removed the cleaner, cover the spot with baking soda. After the baking soda is down, spray a 50/50 vinegar and water solution on the baking soda and allow that to sit until it is completely dry. This can take several hours, even overnight.
– Simply vacuum up the baking soda from the carpet and you should not be able to smell or see any trace of the urine left behind. If you can still smell it, or see a spot, repeat the baking soda/vinegar steps again until you no longer see or smell anything.
