You need to make sure you are educated enough that you can choose the right one for the needs of your home. Heart of Texas Chem-Dry is here to talk about the different types of carpet fibers that are available to you so that you can make the right choice.
Different Types of Carpeting Material
Like mentioned above, there are several different carpet fibers that are available to you. All of them have both an upside and a downside. Here is a little more information about what you are getting when you choose them.
– Acrylic Carpet: This carpet fiber has the same look as wool carpet, but it isn’t going to cost nearly as much. It is a budget friendly carpet that comes in many brilliant colors. However, it isn’t going to be as satin-resistant and durable either. The lifespan is usually only 4-6 years before you need to replace it.
– Polyester Carpet: If you are looking for a carpet that is eco-friendly and made from recycled materials, polyester is it. It is highly stain-resistant, but it isn’t going to be as durable as other options in high traffic areas. You can expect this carpet to last somewhere between 5-7 years.
– Nylon Carpet: Even the toughest stains don’t stand a chance again nylon carpet fibers. You can spill virtually anything on there and will still be able to remove the stain later. It bounces back incredibly well in high traffic areas with professional cleaning. However, it is one of the most expensive synthetic fibers to put in your home. You will be able to get more years out of it though with an 8-10 year lifespan.
– Wool Carpet: This natural fiber is a great option for your home as it is extremely hypoallergenic. It is also an eco-friendly choice for your home. Sheep’s wool is a great choice because it repels moisture as well as dirt and grime from the carpets. You will end up paying more for this carpet though. You do, however, get what you pay for. Another complaint that people have is that the fibers tend to shed. Cleaning it can be difficult too and you should only use cleaners that are recommended by the manufacturer.
